Ops ‘n’ Tops is a parent supervised kids group that is facilitated by some of our finest sailors. These sessions are specifically aimed at helping the kids to gain confidence and also to have fun whilst sailing, this helps bring the club together as well as teaching the kids to sail. The children are a variety of ages, the younger kids go in small stable boats called Optimists until their confidence and their ability grows, the older children sail in Toppers, Topaz’s and RS Quba’s. for older youths we also have two Firefly (2 person) racing dinghys which are favoured in many university boat clubs . These sessions have been proved a success as we have had some of the children joining in with our Wednesday night and Sunday afternoon race series’. Others have progressed to sailing at a National level within the NSSA.
