Members RYA Powerboat level 2

21/22nd July 2018

This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.

It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations. The course can be taken inland or on the coast and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.

Dinghy Course 28/29th July 2018

This course will be run as either a level 1 or level 2 course depending on demand.

Level 1 content – How to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering

Level 2 content – Rigging, launching, sailing in all directions. Capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge

Ops ‘n’ Tops cancelled 24/06

Unfortunately we’ve had to cancel the Ops ‘n’ Tops session that was due to take place on this coming Saturday 24th June. We’re sorry for the short notice and any disappointment this may cause your little ones, but Ops ‘n’ Tops will be running as normal on the following Saturday 1st July.

RYA Training National Sailing Scheme

RYA Training level 1 and level 2

Bookings now being taken on WebCollect for National Sailing Scheme Level 1 Course (6th / 7th May) and National Sailing Scheme Level 2 Course (24th / 25th June). RVSC provides RYA Training in various Dinghy classes.

Courses cost £75 per person each, and are open to members of Rossendale Valley Sailing Club.

Rossendale Valley Sailing Club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre, offering Dinghy, Windsurfing and Power Boat training.

Dinghy Instructor Course 2017

We will be running a Dinghy Instructor Course during March (11 / 12 / 17 / 18 / 19). Course cost will be in the region of £200 / 225 depending on numbers. If you are interested please email:

As well as course, there is also a need to hold First Aid, be a member of RYA, Online course Safe and Fun, and have a number of reference books.

Required books are:

G14 Instructor Handbook £10.49, G4 National Sailing Scheme Log Book £6.49, G11 Youth Sailing Scheme Log Book £6.49

Recommended Books are:

G3 Start Sailing Beginners Handbook £6.99, G12 Advanced Handbook, ZW13 Wet Notes £7.49

There is also a course requirement to pass a Pre Assessment Sail – held at the club Late Jan / Early Feb.
