As part of the RYA Push The Boat Out initiative. We will be holding two taster sessions on Saturday 14th and Saturday 21st May. 12pm – 4pm. Both sessions are open to non club members, for anyone who wants to find out what Sailing and Windsurfing is about.

This will be run under our Taster Session format. To make for two great days, we encourage all club sailors and windsurfers, to come along and get out on the water. To chat and make welcome those visiting for the first time. To assist with site access, and making brews!

Bart’s Bash 2015

Another successful Bart’s Bash at Rossendale Valley SC that was enjoyed by all those taking part in the race and those watching from the shore.

We raised an impressive £310 on the day which has been added to the clubs, belatedly setup, JustGiving page. If you didn’t get a chance to donate on the day but would still like to contribute you can do so from the same link. All monies raised goes to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.

For those that took part in the race the results section has been updated or you can view the results directly on the RVSC Bart’s Bash Results page. The global results list is also available on the Bart’s Bash Results page although our results haven’t been processed at the time of writing.

Well done to Mick Green winning the race followed closely behind by Tony Atkins in second, Peter and Meriel Moon in third and Nigel Platt and Lewis Gardner in fourth.

A mention to Bob Glowa who, despite being away, still took part in Bart’s Bash at Saundersfoot Sailing Club by crewing on a 26ft Westerly.

On a personal note I’d like to offer some special thanks without whom the day wouldn’t have been what it was:

  • Jane Jackson for helping out with Race Office Duties.
  • Joan Forbes, as ever, for feeding and watering us all.
  • Mark Barrowcliffe for his enthusiasm and help.
  • Matt Hartley, Sarah Hartley and Tony Atkins for organising and/or donating to the raffle prizes.

I hope you’re all looking forward to next years event as much as I am.

Bart’s Bash 2015

After such a successful event last year the club is taking part in Barts’s Bash again. Our race will be held at 1:00pm Sunday 20th September.

If you would like to take part in this years race please register on the Bart’s Bash website. There is no fee to race but we will be taking donations on the day to raise money for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.

You can view a list of those signed up so far (it’s lonely at the moment) at the RVSC Bart’s Bash Entry List.

All the information you’ll need to race and about the cause is on the Bart’s Bash website. If you would like any information specific to Rossendale Valley SC’s event feel free to chat to either myself or Matt Hartley.

Winter Sunday racing

The new Sunday racing series was due to restart on the 11th January 2015 but was postponed due to the heavy winds we’re currently experiencing.

We’re trying a new format of 12 races per series with no actual defined dates for the races but racing to to take place every Sunday at 1pm and 3pm. Due to the increased likelihood of adverse weather at this time of year it was considered that the added flexibility of this format would allow more people to take part in a given series over the coming months.

So if you would like to take part in the Winter Sunday series pack something warm and come and get stuck in.
